Why are there no “good” health insurance companies?

While thinking about the idea of an altruistic, fair “public option” for health insurance, I started trying to figure out why something like it doesn’t already exist. (Or maybe it does?)

The assumption seems to be that health insurance companies are causing problems through systematic greed, and the public option would help keep them honest. But, if this is the case, why isn’t there an organization doing this already? Why don’t the “good,” people, such as the ones that take less-pay than they could in other sectors to run major charitable organizations, start a “good” health insurance company that doesn’t do any of the bad things that the other insurance companies do. If such an organization were to exist, it seems that everyone would switch to it, and even the most greedy of insurance companies would have to become like it in order to compete.

There are obviously enough qualified and caring people out there to make such an organization happen without any government involvement. So why don’t such organizations exist?

I have a few ideas, but they don’t explain the whole story. Maybe the fact that people don’t usually shop around for health insurance because it’s chosen by their employers prevents new “good” insurance companies from gaining the market share required to make the “bad“ ones change? Maybe health insurance companies are already as good as they can be, despite a few heartless employees, and the primary problems in health care come from somewhere else? Maybe protectionist legal policies prevent altruistic organizations from freely forming?

Any thoughts?

16 year old needs good health insurance that covers sinus/septoplasty surgery?

I am 16 years old and have been suffering from sinus infections, post nasal drip, and difficult breathing. My nasal bone is also a bit crooked.
Can anybody here recommend me a good health insurance that will work best for my problems. I am pretty sure I will need to get a septoplasty due to a deviated septum. Assuming I need to get septoplasty and rhinoplasty surgery to fix my nose what about be best insurance to get.

Like are their some insurances out their that might cover the rhinoplasty? because I know that most insurance companies considered straightening the nose cosmetic.

How long can one eat a half gallon of yogurt a day, and very little else, and survive in good health?

I know it’s tempting to kid about this, but I’m serious. I have irritable bowel, and I can’t consume very much really solid food without having problems. My solution, which I have been working with for about a year now, is to eat mostly yogurt. My only solid food is a very soft and textureless bread, of which I eat a half dozen slices a day.

It’s not a party. But I want to know if anyone else has done this for long, or knows the longterm health problems (if any) that might arise from this kind of soft diet.

would you please tell me why gemstones are used for good health?

would you please tell me why gemstones are used for good health? Is it a faith or is there any science involved in it? It is said that Garnet and Malachite jewellery would foretell the wearer’s ill health; they either decolorise or breakdown aby absorbing negative energy of the wearer. How does it happen? Do these stones are sensitive to any change in the chemical composition of the body fluids- like sweat- as a result of ill health?

What is the truth about Masturbation, for both males and females? Is it good for health or bad?

I heard a lot of things since I was a kid. They always warned us about it. Religiously, and also health wise. They say it hurts the back, and the knees. Makes the eyes shady, and hurts the imune system. Now there are people who say masturbating is nessassary everyother while to keep your organs working. Anyone with knowledge on this topic?

p.s. If you have a good idea for a jack off, you can share it too ;)
